Land feud between Opie and Stamford stalls after six years

A Vermont dispute over Opie’s planned 600 to 1,500 vacation homes has kept land in limbo. Opie bought 3418.7 acres for 594000 and a 511000 mortgage, facing Stamford’s forest district zoning. Stamford rejected sale to the National Forest, while Opie sued in 1971 for 1.8 million in damages, halting taxes. The case persists with no clear winner.
