Vermont Drug Law Deemed Realistic by State Atty
Vermont's new drug statute is described as far more realistic than federal proposals. State's Atty. Pat Leahy argues the Vermont plan targets dealers over users, with medical aid for users and misdemeanor handling for first offenses, reserving felonies for subsequent drug offenses. Also notes rising Heart Fund contributions, a mass helicopter search in Norwood, and Vermont unemployment dropping to 1.5 percent with St Albans at 4 percent.
