United Press International reports two million-plus crowds in New York and Chicago greeted Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins. Parades ran from Broadway to Wall Street Apollo Way through the U N and culminated at Civic Center Plaza Chicago with a Goodyear blimp tribute and water cannon salutes. The astronauts then traveled to Los Angeles for a state dinner with President Nixon.

St Albans to Open Schools Day After Vote
St Albans School Board voted to open elementary schools on September 10, one day after a fourth vote on a special school tax rate. Since August 5 after three defeats the district has faced a limbo period as officials seek funds, while 550 displaced parochial students join the system. Bellows Free Academy will open September 2 with local high school students allowed to attend pending the September 9 vote.
