Cherry Orchard opens at Williamstown to mixed reviews
The Anton Chekhov play opened last night at Williamstown Summer Theatre with a large cast led by Olympia Dukakis as Ranevskaya. The reviewer calls this the least successful current season, citing disjointed pacing and overfilled character ensemble, though Pendleton’s Lopahin and Dukakis’ moments offer glimpses of Chekhov’s power.
