Dayton Firemen Return After 29 Buildings Burned
Dayton Ohio United Press International reports 370 firemen returned to duty after a strike for higher pay and a shorter work week. Within 30 minutes of ratifying a two year contract they fought a minor blaze at an apartment complex as residents fought fires with hoses. The pact grants 50 cent hourly raises and reduces the work week from 52 to 50 hours starting Jan 1 1979 with amnesty for the illegal strike. City officials warn wounds will take time to heal and accountability remains.

ABA sets rules to guide lawyers in advertising
The American Bar Association approved a detailed code to govern how lawyers may advertise. The rules specify permissible content in ads, reflecting a move to regulate advertising after the Supreme Court's ruling that bans on advertising are unconstitutional. The decision chosen favors guiding states toward formal codes and rejects delaying the issue.

California agriculture faces an estimated 800 million dollars in losses from this year's drought, far below earlier projections. The Department of Food and Agriculture says land, livestock and irrigation improvements help offset the drop, with 1977 output near or above 1976 levels due to increased watered efficiency.
