Primary outcomes favor incumbents and favorites across four states

Tuesday's primaries in Michigan Georgia Missouri and Idaho largely followed party favorites with few clear signals for November. Missouri saw no decisive impact from Eagleton's resignation as Davis family controversy faded. Bond won the Republican gubernatorial nomination while Dowd claimed the Democratic nod. Georgia incumbents Gambrell and Nunn advanced, Thompson led Republicans, while Williams and Stoner trailed in a crowded field. Michigan incumbents Chamberlain Hutchinson and Broomfield won, amid anti-busing campaigns in Detroit suburbs. Idaho's GOP nominees included Symms over Kidwell and Williams unopposed for the Democrats. McClure and Davis were chosen for the Senate slate.
