Stewart House to Be Razed in North Bennington
Fire gutted the Stewart house on Water Street will be demolished by Burgess Bros. under a village plan. North Bennington Village Trustees chair Fred Welling said releases from owner Mrs. Georgia Stewart enable demolition, costs covered by the village and reimbursed if land is sold under a mortgage agreement. Demolition date depends on Burgess’ schedule. The decayed building has long troubled officials and residents with its unsightly appearance since a December fire.
