Springfield committee to tour dam site and discuss options
A legislative panel planned two site tours of Springfield's proposed municipal hydroelectric dam, first with local officials then Cavendish selectmen. Weathersfield officials said more study is needed but did not oppose the idea. Springfield offered 147 000 per year payment in lieu of taxes to the town housing the dam, while Cavendish opposition remains strong and Weathersfield residents may rally against the plan. The 500 acre reservoir would largely lie in Cavendish even if the dam is built in Weathersfield.
