Apollo 15 astronaut Alfred Worden ventured 196000 miles above Earth to recover a million square miles of lunar film from the service module. He and James Irwin guided the camera bay cassette back to Endeavour while commander David Scott stayed at the controls.
A Stockholm paper claimed SAS was asked to fly 183 American POWs from Indochina to New York, a report SAS and U.S. officials denied. SAS said it was approached about a possible Vientiane Rome charter for 187 passengers but passengers were not identified as military. U.S. and Vietnamese negotiators reiterated no POW exchange timetable, with Perot noted as a private interlocutor.
Negotiator Charles E. Neuschafer of the Southwest Vermont Education Association said a plan agreed by a majority of Mt. Anthony teachers would be made public by tomorrow at noon. He noted the association’s counsel advised against early statements. About 50 to 60 teachers attended to decide whether SWVEA would sign a contract for 1971 72. The Mt. Anthony Union School Board has offered individual contracts after an January impasse. roughly 60 of 144 contracts have been signed, with a Friday deadline for return.
Montpelier Vermont Republican Peter Giuliani chairing House Ways and Means says he now favors a profits tax on Green Mountain Park, citing an $8.7 million buyout offer by Paul Narron as a signal profits rose and a tax review is timely. Rep Francis Peisch proposed $500000 annual tax on the nine year old track.
About 1,500 one inch rainbow trout were dumped into the Walloomsac River near Route 7, starting a restocking effort after a fish kill.
