Taxpayers Association Formed In Bennington Mass Meeting

A Bennington taxpayers association formed after two years of tax and spending discontent. Raymond C. Murray was named chairman and president with Virginia Perrotta as vice president, Marion Vince as secretary, and Byron Harrington as treasurer. The 200 member group elected a 13 member board and adopted a nonpartisan constitution aiming for fair tax treatment and prudent public spending. Members discussed publishing a 1958 tax list, plans to run local candidates, and inviting other groups to join.
