Rising cemetery costs touch Berkshire County final needs
Inflation hits burial sites with Pittsfield Cemetery charging $200 for a grave while towns like Dalton, Lee, and Peru offer free lots or low fees funded by local operations. Adams Bellevue asks $80 for residents and $240 for nonresidents. Hancock restricts to residents with $15 fee. Catholic cemeteries remain steady under Springfield Diocese. St Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield has land for centuries. The piece also covers farm price support debates and Vietnam aid votes and confirms judge Thomas Meskill.
