House to vote on Viet evacuation aid today
Congress moves toward authorizing 327 million dollars for evacuation and humanitarian aid in South Vietnam and defining presidential authority to use troops. The Senate approved the measure 46 to 17, with final House action expected this afternoon and the White House poised to sign. North Adams man charged with aggravated assault
Glenn Anthony Cardimino, 22, of North Adams, hobbled on crutches into Bennington District Court on Monday charged with two counts of aggravated assault. A first event at Country Casuals at Monument Plaza in Bennington involved threatening co owner Jane Kaufmann with a knife at 10 45 a.m. on April 22. The second occurred Sunday in a Manchester Shopping Center laundromat at 1 15 p.m. where a man threatened Joan Scott Gemmell with a corkscrew or knife. Police detained Cardimino shortly after. His attorney James J. Cormier Jr. entered pleas of not guilty.
