Arbor Day Salute At Two Schools Highlights Planting Efforts
Dirt Gardeners mark Arbor Day by saluting Principal MacBride for expanding nature study at Mt Anthony area schools. About 100 new trees line Main and South streets while last year 590 students and 30 teachers planted 20 trees and began a nature trail between Molly Stark and the brook. Individuals and groups contributed plants, soil materials, and guides as teachers plan using native-study curricula and a volumes series for environmental lessons.

Esposito: Muskie delegates shift to uncommitted
State Democratic chairman Francis Esposito says most delegates pledged to Sen. Edmund Muskie at the Maine convention will switch to uncommitted after Muskie withdrew from further primaries. Unofficial tallies show Muskie with 249 delegates, McGovern 459, and 131 uncommitted. Esposito says many Muskie supporters may stay with him or move to uncommitted. McGovern organizers caution it is early to judge.
