Selectmen Sympathetic But Hold Off On Willow Road Decision
Willow Road residents urged Bennington town officials to hard surface their street, but the selectmen delayed final action. They plan to meet May 10 with state Highway Engineer Ivor Pelsue to review the town road program and consider paving Vail and Gore Roads first due to traffic and cost concerns. If state aid is available, Willow Road work may begin this summer with widening and gravel base, followed by hard surfacing next year. The town will weigh maintenance needs on existing paved roads and the impact on overall paving plans.
