U S records March trade deficit rising fuel imports

The Commerce Department reported a March deficit of 2.387 billion, a new record surpassing February, with a 22 percent rise in petroleum purchases. For Q1 1977 the deficit reached 5.9 billion, matching all of 1976. High oil imports followed cold winter depletion.

Vermont Postal Service Faces Two May 9 Meetings

Vermont residents are urged to attend May 9 meetings in Montpelier and Rutland over a proposed mail sorter plan. Hoosick Falls village board re interpreted an April 12 motion to allow 68 Elm St lot to be sold with residential use only.
