New York Bicycling Boom in Central Park for Sundays
New Yorkers discover relief from city claustrophobia by cycling in Central Park. Since a parks policy bans cars Sundays 10 to 4 and Saturdays recently, about 7,000 cyclists ride the seven mile loop weekly. Celebrities, dignitaries, and diverse residents join, including Mayor Lindsay and socialites, as park scenes blend nature with urban life.

Large Lot Zoning in Burlington Yield vs Cost Debate
A Burlington discussion reviews Technical Bulletin 32 on large lot zoning and its impact on municipal costs. The Massachusetts MIT and Commerce study of 11 Boston area towns found bigger lots cut population and some services but did not reduce per capita costs. street and school transport costs rose with larger lots, offsetting sewage and police savings. The report cautions that open space is unlikely to be preserved by large lots except in extreme sizes and urges balanced planning and regional regional strategies with industry and commerce to improve the tax base.
