Salamander migration watch underway at Pleasant Valley
Lenox Massachusetts prepares for a salamander migration on warm rainy nights. Sanctuary director Mulhall and Berkshire Community College students monitor air and water conditions, hopeful for a repeat of last year’s crossroad crossing and mass breeding in the ponds. Endangered Jefferson, marbled, and spotted salamanders thrive in the sanctuary’s limestone habitat, one of only two U S sanctuaries.
