Unrealistic Peace Overtures Loudly Criticized by Quaker
Bronson P. Clark of the American Friends Service Committee warned local listeners that Lyndon B Johnson’s Vietnam peace efforts are unrealistic and politically expedient. He argued the war widens, Laos and Cambodia may be drawn in, and U S aid supports an expanding conflict while South east Asian allies grow distrustful. Clark urged Americans to press Washington to end financial support for military action and to seek negotiated settlements with the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese.
