An elderly man, Burton Hansen, was burned to death in his bed this afternoon in Sandgate. His daughter said he had been smoking. the fire was noticed by passerby George Hughes and authorities, including the Arlington Fire Dept. and state police, responded. Hansen, disabled by a prior stroke, died at the scene. the family home is in Albany and three grandchildren survive.

Henry F. Harris of Dover, treasurer of Rolton Inc, bought the 4,500 acre Harriman tract in Readsboro from Eugene L. Colman of New York City. Harris regards the purchase as a long term investment with no immediate development plans. The property sprawls across the northern Readsboro side of Vermont Route 8 into Searsburg, near portions of National Forest and power lines. Colman, active since 1966, once drafted a ski area and recreation homes master plan with Everett Lord-Wood Associates but halted further funding. He now targets Pine Land Tract in Dover and other Vermont parcels.

Moulton Backs Mallary On Special Session Urgency
