Reports Published Pope's Commission Recommends Lift Contraception Ban
A majority of a Vatican commission advising Pope Paul on birth control recommended lifting the church ban on contraception. The National Catholic Reporter said the reports were delivered to the Pope on June 26, 1966, and kept secret. Abortion was condemned and sterilization generally rejected as contraception. The liberal and conservative reports converge on negating infallibility of church statements while urging new thought on marriage, family and human sexuality.
