Chamber switches home to police HQ in Bennington
The Greater Bennington Chamber of Commerce will move from its South Street office into the town police headquarters vacated by the old stone building dating to 1833. Selectmen tabled a five year lease extension as the chamber faces eviction, with executive secretary Hiram G. Savage saying the chamber will not fight the decision. The town owns the building which also houses the tourist information center and chamber office, leased at 75 dollars a month since 1961. The chamber board meets next Monday to address the issue.
