Antiwar group reports U S troop buildup to Southeast Asia
The Military Buildup Committee, a coalition of antiwar groups, claims at least 13 warships including carrier Saratoga and guided missile frigate Biddle head toward a Pacific rendezvous en route to Indochina to bolster South Vietnam. It says 24,000 troops and 411 aircraft left the United States, with more on alert or en route. The Pentagon denies ground troop plans, citing reinforcement of air and naval units.
