All day battle for besieged An Loc rages in Vietnam
Reports from Saigon say Communist forces led by North Vietnam fought into An Loc with about 10 000 attackers facing 7 000 South Vietnamese defenders. U S air power targeted the attackers as a relief column of 5 000 South Vietnamese troops and tanks struggled 18 miles north of An Loc. In the clash, Lt Col Truong Huu Duc was killed, and multiple U S bases across central and northern South Vietnam faced shelling with USAF jets and B 52s striking targets in North Vietnam.

Retroactive Leary ruling could free hundreds of prisoners
The U S Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the 1989 Timothy Leary decision is retroactive, potentially freeing hundreds convicted of marijuana related offenses before 1989. The decision overturns 19 cases on appeal and may lead to new trials or erased convictions for others, with thousands more seeking relief.
