Snowstorms Create Widespread Travel Disruptions Across Regions
A spring snowstorm blanketed northern New England with up to 18 inches while a coastal storm dumped about a foot in eastern New York. Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine saw heavy snowfall. traffic jams formed as motorists struggled home. Schools canceled in southeastern New York and a Syracuse bus accident injured 13 children. Elsewhere, snow drifted through the Rockies into the Pacific Northwest with up to 6 inches in the Salt Lake Valley and gusty winds toppled structures in California and Arizona. Early temps ranged from 19 to 70 degrees.

A Greek oil tanker named Elias exploded at ARCO Fort Mifflin dock while unloading Venezuelan crude. One crewman died, eight missing, and 13 crewmen plus a pier guard injured as the ship broke into burning sections. Bennington human services commission organized by selectmen
The Bennington Human Services Commission was formed Tuesday, naming W Averell Brown as sixth member and replacing two appointees.
