Pownal Town Activities Schedule and Food Distribution
The April government surplus food allotment has arrived. Arthur E. George, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, will distribute at the town office Saturday 11 to 1 30 with 78 participants. A municipal swimming pool study group meets Sunday at 4 p.m. at the town office. Pownal Methodist Church hosts a membership class Monday 3 45 to 5 led by Debra Chenaille and others. An auxiliary plan outlines a record hop tonight at the firehouse 7 30 to 10 30 and a May 8 spring dance with Eddie Robillard’s. Four Pownal Pioneers 4-H members showcased demonstrations at Taconic Grange.

Manchester invites guest to Lions Club April meeting
Manchester residents are notified that Jackie Breen-362-2259 is invited to be a guest of the Lions Club at the April 14 meeting at Colburn House. A school board meeting is set for Monday at 7 30 p m and the Board of Selectmen met with Dorset officials to discuss refuse disposal. Proceeds from a cribbage event will aid the Manchester Firefighters Association building fund. Bids on extending the town sewer system are invited with locations Main Street and Center Hill. bids open April 29 at 7 30 p m. Kevin Lewis will enter St Johns College in Cambridge after his Harvard graduation in June.
