New England nonagricultural employment totaled 4,236,600 in February, down 2,100 from January but up about 58,000 from February 1967. Manufacturing rose 8,000 jobs from December–January, with durable and nondurable goods both gaining. Nonmanufacturing jobs declined due to seasonal cuts in construction and trade, offset by gains in transportation utilities finance service and government. Vermont life policy death payments reached 10.5 million in 1967, up 14.1 percent from 1966, with 4,500 policies paying out and the largest single payment at 6 million for ordinary individual life. National death payments totaled 5,665,300,000 in 1967, up 8.6 percent from 1966.
