Selectmen Approve Hourly Raise for Roadmen in 1962 Budget Questioned
Selectmen Tuesday night approved a 10 cent per hour raise for the seven men of the Town Highway Department bringing the top rate to 1.85 for truck drivers and 1.75 for other workers. First year member Clayton Daigneault abstained asking if the increase had a specific budget allowance, noting the budget for 1962 highway operations may be top heavy. Van Santvoord and Eldred argued the current budget covers the raise as wages align with nearby village workers. The meeting also discussed a general pickup truck purchase for the sewer plant and road needs, budget procedures, and public notices for meetings.
