Congressmen attack the Army plan to break up eight National Guard and Reserve infantry divisions. Governors from 21 states threaten objections as Rep Durward G Hall predicts a major congressional battle over the administration stance. Rep Melvin R Laird hopes Congress will respond.
First Sgt. John E. Ahearn says no word on Hart ford Headquarters reorg1from the 43rd Division. The Army plan splits manpower into eight flexible brigades 3000 to 4500 strong, with remaining headquarters to supervise training and support. Eight divisions include Guard units from Nebraska Iow a, Kansas Missouri, Connecticut Rhode Island Vermont, Florida South Carolina and Reserve units from Pennsylvania Delaware Massachusetts Arizona Idaho Montana Utah Washington.
