The Bennington Housing Authority plans 150 new housing units funded by HUD. Chairman Hamilton Shields announced after a long brainstorming session with HUD official John Bonkoski. Bonkoski proposed splitting units between family and elderly housing and will send a regional aide next Wednesday to assist filing the construction reservation.

Nixon Urges 10 Cent Mail Rate for Pay Hikes
President Nixon asked Congress to raise the first class mail rate to 10 cents to fund a 6 per cent pay raise for federal workers and military personnel. He urged faster collection of gift and inheritance taxes to help cover retroactive increases and tied postal reform to an 8 to 8.5 percent wage rise contingent on reform. The proposal would generate about $2.3 billion and offset a roughly $2.5 billion cost of the settlement, with reforms to be completed by April 10.

Plane Hijack Ends With Passengers Released Pyongyang
