A Benalla district letter to the editor offers fire season guidance. It advises brief, factual messages to police, and asks brigade secretaries to compile a contact list of officers and leaders.
Junus claims to have granted playing rights on club property and seeks relief to prevent exclusion by the club and loss of stock and grass rights. He seeks damages of £5000 and enforcement of the alleged agreement with the club.
Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Smith of Benalla Street plan a March departure for six months in England. Mrs. Smith looks forward to returning to the homeland after a 26 year absence.
A promotional note describes the new Guo i Pe contractors Powell building as a valuable addition. A free picture night is scheduled for February 8 in the C W A Hall with Emmerson, Director of pre Kindergartens, hosting a program showcasing Melbourne model kindergartens. Special invitations go to parents to attend and observe operations.
The Benalla Hospital Carnival committee is preparing for the seventh Annual Sports meeting at the Showgrounds on Friday night 23rd and Saturday. Running and cycling tracks will be ready with extensive organisation for a large event. Early entries promise a successful function and prize money of £866 attracts top athletes from across states including entrants from New South Wales.

The Methodist Church in Benall hosted the wedding of Betty Marish and Gordon Suffield with Rev. E Keith Ditterich officiating. Betty wore a white satin gown with pearl detailing and carried an ivory Bible while Audrey Bender and Nancy Jarick attended in ice blue gowns.
Excellent entries have been received for Monday's Benalla races to be held on Australia Day. With good weather predicted and the track in excellent condition under secretary Barclay Boyd, a large crowd from surrounding districts is expected. Weights follow.
Bright entertain ment lit Beechworth as five visiting bands from Wodonga Yackandandah Yarrawonga Wangaratta and Benalla joined the North Eastern Brass Bands Association. After the afternoon event the groups paraded down the main street and performed in the Gardens before a crowded crowd. Benalla bandsmen thanked Beechworth for warm hospitality.
Junior four year scholarships at Benalla High School go to Maureen J Thompson John F Ivard and Jean I Ferguson. Free places at the same school awarded to E M Smith Dorothy M Down and Valerie R Volk.
The bridegroom was supported by best man Max Suffield and groomsman Jack Tavendale with ushers Jin Scott and Fred Piper. The register was signed to Handel’s Where Ere Walk. Guests sent telegrams including one from Dick Spencer of Manila. The couple honeymooned in Melbourne and left for Numurkah to reside with Mrs. Suffield and family.
