James Day a longtime Devenish pioneer died aged 78 after coming to the district with his parents Daniel and Julia Day. He married Ellen Mary Morlyc and is survived by family. Burial was held at the Devenish cemetery after funeral services at the Devenish Catholic Church.

A boy from Devenish fell while at the dray yard injuring his left arm after tripping on a rod of earth. Emergency care was provided as the incident was recorded in local reports.
