Sterilization of two girls triggers million dollar suit
Lonnie Relf filed a $1 million damage suit in U S District Court alleging the Montgomery Family Planning Center and Montgomery Community Action Agency sterilized his 12 year old daughter Mary Alice Relf and her 14 year old sister Minnie without proper consent after a federal ban on a birth control drug Depo Provera. The center said the girls were informed and consented, and notes the operation was voluntary. The report also lists a mobile health unit schedule for area communities.
