Locker plant verdict overturned by Minnesota Supreme Court
The Minnesota Supreme Court reversed a $38,000 jury award to Ernest Peterson of Esko in a case against Crown Zellerbach and Paper Products Co over defective freezer wrap. The court found evidence insufficient to prove the wrap caused meat spoilage amid temperature and bacterial factors. Attorney Lawrence Yetka, later sworn in as a justice, faced criticism for urging the jury that a defeat could close Peterson’s business. Yetka and George Scott, both lawyers from Minneapolis, were to be sworn in as new justices Tuesday.
