High winds and hail smash through Bemidji area

Bar Association debates deadly force limits in police policy

Washington AP reports the Carter administration may implement gasoline rationing if energy conservation measures do not cut fuel use and oil imports. An aide to James Schlesinger confirmed Monday that several rationing schemes are under study.

District 31 teachers in contract talks stall over leaves

After a month of talks the District 31 administration and teachers made no progress on the contract. They debated the seniority list and severance pay with several proposals and counter proposals while salary remains the last issue. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the high school boardroom.

Supreme Court rules White House tapes belong to government

The Supreme Court ruled 7 to 2 that former president Nixon loses control of White House tapes and documents. The decision upholds Congress authority to seize roughly 5,000 hours of tapes and 42 million pages, paving public access while leaving possible challenges to regulations by the General Services Administration.
