PCA grants grain elevator exemptions in Springfield and Alden
Minnesota PCA voted 6-2 to exempt two new grain elevators from air quality standards. The board debated whether 850 small country elevators should receive automatic exemptions, with Merritt opposing blanket policy. Public concerns centered on dust and financing for dust-control equipment. The agency also approved a Minnesota Transportation Control Plan to meet federal air standards by May 31, 1975, including parking, shuttle buses, and express routes in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
