Fire victims file damage claims in Beltrami county

Damage and injury claims totaling $769000 were served on Beltrami County and Buzzle Township over a May 15 1973 fire near Pinewood. Nineteen claimants signaled court action for losses to homes buildings property and timber caused by a fire allegedly due to negligent dumping and unattended flames.

Viet Cong orders ceasefire in South Vietnam

Viet Cong issues a ceasefire order to all units in South Vietnam to take effect at noon Friday Saigon time. A joint communique signed by the United States Vietnam and Viet Cong in Paris calls for these orders to be issued by Saigon and Viet Cong commands. A similar Saigon order is planned.

The Bemidji Police Civil Service Commission will meet at 6 30 tonight in the city hall conference room to discuss hiring a new police chief. This follows a Bemidji City Council sub committee ruling that the police have a grievance over allowing non current force members to take the chief's examination.

As of July 1 1973 Beltrami County Shoreland Management Ordinance 6 requires all sanitary installers to have a license. Applications and licenses are available at the Zoning Administrator’s office in the courthouse. Annual fee is 10 dollars.

Leech Lake Fee Stamp Now Available for Hunters

The new $1 surcharge stamp for hunting and fishing on the Leech Lake Reservation is available at County Auditor Wayne Alsop’s office.
