The Bemidji Town and Country Club bridge group held its first fall season play at the clubhouse on Wednesday. Mrs. David Park won first, Mrs. H. E. Stoner took second, and Mrs. Joe Nyhus finished third. The club will meet again June 13 at 1 p.m. with lunch available from the menu.
The second annual Navy reunion day will be held Sunday July 1 at the Navy School. All former students board members teachers employees and community members are invited. Events begin at noon with a potluck lunch followed by a meeting and program. The Navy Community Band will provide lunch music. Bring your own silver and earplugs. Coffee soft drinks and paper supplies provided.
Mayor Dick Neises helped break ground for a new Senior Citizens Center at First Street and Birch Avenue in Cass Lake. The Shelter Development Corporation and Cass Lake Housing and Redevelopment Authority led the six year project now under committee leadership including Dick Neises and Clarinda Huser. Completion is planned for early 1974 with a luncheon for 30 guests at the American Legion Aux. rooms.
Frohn Township residents are invited to a potluck supper at Frohn Town Hall on Wednesday June 20 at 6 p.m. Each family brings plates and utensils. the township provides coffee and koolaid. A brief business meeting at 7:30 p.m. will follow, with the Citizens Action Council presenting its new by laws for ratification and outlining proposed projects.
United States Air Force Recruiting announces a testing event in Bemidji at the Federal Building Am. 418 on June 8 at 9 30 a m. The test invites men and women ages 17 to 27 and results determine job assignment with guaranteed options based on performance.
James C. Schreiber known for spinning tops for God headlines a Children’s Rally at First Baptist Church Bemidji on June 11 to 15. The event features top spinning demonstrations linking tricks to Biblical truths with world and church figures contributing.
Nashwauk city celebrates with a Battle of Bands starting at 6 p.m. July 3 at Spartan Stadium and a street dance July 4 from 9 p.m. to midnight. The winning band earns a $250 prize and may contact Mrs. Loretta Stimac at 114 4th St. for details via 885 1306.
