Clearbrook fisherman nets 70 pound paddlefish thrill
Clearwater reports Hank Haug, a Bagley taxidermist, praises Ernest Mielke of Clearbrook as the county’s avid paddlefish angler. Mielke hauled four paddlefish during a South Dakota trip, including a 70 pounder near Big Bend Dam Fort Thompson, while another 80 pounder snapped loose. Paddlefish fishing requires snagging in fast water below dams, not hooking. The fish has no scales, a paddle nose, a cavern mouth, four filter-like gills, and yields boneless white meat when prepared.
