A 75 person team supports Bemidji telephone service with 11 000 phones handling over 80 000 calls daily. Technicians under George Theroux maintain complex switching gear and test apparatus while police cooperation, stormproofing, buried rural lines, and computerized billing modernize service. Expansion plans include Cass Lake local calling and June 12 rollout.
