A South Central Bell operator in Nashville received a call from a small girl asking for "the number of the courthouse." When asked which courthouse, the girl replied "Which one is best?" in a puzzled exchange.
Federal mediators schedule a meeting Thursday in International Falls between Boise Cascade management and Local 433 of the International Woodworkers of America. About 1,700 workers are affected as eight other unions, representing roughly 600 workers, remain in talks over a basic contract with wage increases of seven percent yearly through 1974 and local issues on safety and working conditions.
Gerald Gorka of St. Paul reports burglary at his summer home with several items stolen. John Gabris and Bill Steckman report theft of a $450 fishing display kit from their car at Teastrike or Blackduck Lake. Donald Helgeson of Tenstrike reports four spinning reels and rods stolen from a docked boat at Cedar Rapids Lodge. Also notes on a New York AP brief about over 10 million steel nuts and bolts used for a 1150 mile electric transmission line through Indiana Ohio Virginia West Virginia and Kentucky.
