Blackduck Telephone awards building contracts

Herbert Iren Jr president of Blackduck Telephone Company announced a contract to Duane's Inc of St. Cloud for constructing a headquarters and equipment building in Blackduck. Subcontractor for mechanical work is Blackduck Plumbing and Heating while electrical work is by Hanay Electric of Bemidji and Anderson Electric of Blackduck.

County court records report in Beltrami County Tuesday

July 15 pleas and fines include Michael Bakke of Bemidji admitting guilt on driving with over 10 percent BAC with DWI dismissed and 200 dollar fine. Gloria Whitefeather of Red Lake cited for no license and DWI with 300 dollar fine and 90 day jail sentence suspended plus DWI course. Delores Smith of Red Lake fined 25 dollars and 10 days jail with suspensions and DWI course. others include Alvin Johnson of Minneapolis 300 dollars and 90 days jail with conditions, and more contempt of court actions, transfers, and local theft reports from Bemidji and surrounding areas.

Bemidji area births and new telephone HQ project

Area residents Jamee and Paw Lundberg of Solway welcome a son born July 11 at Bemidji Hospital amid a major modernization project. The Black Duck telephone system plans a reinforced concrete headquarters with brick walls and precast roof, housing offices and new dial equipment, with over 200 miles of underground cable completed. Architects are Architectural Resources Inc. Construction proposals were received June 10, with completion targeted in early October as new equipment install proceeds alongside building work. The Bemidji Public Library screens Walt Disney’s The Pigeon That Worked a Miracle Thursday at 7 pm, a one hour film for children about a boy and his pigeon.

Tenney Resigns Bemidji School Post for Minnesota Role

Philip L. Tenney will resign as assistant superintendent of schools in Independent School District No. 01 effective at month end. He leaves Bemidji Public Schools after eleven years here to become Assistant Executive Secretary of the Minnesota Association of Secondary Principals, based in St. Paul. Tenney has served as senior high principal, director of secondary education, and secondary director with added duties, holding a BA from Macalester and an MEd from the University of North Dakota. He will oversee workshops, principal committees, negotiation training, and on-site assistance while traveling across the state, and plans to keep his Bemidji residence with wife Maxine.

Birth of Denise Jil to Jenkauski Family in Anoka

A daughter Denise JIL was born to Sandra and Leon Jenkauski of Anoka on July 1. She weighed 7 pounds 8.4 ounces and has a brother Troy. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hedlund of Cass Lake and Mrs. Mavis Jenkauski of Wilton.
