Tickets remain for the Bemidji State College Madrigal Dinner Monday despite a weekend sellout. Contact the BSC Music Department at 755-2915 to reserve and avoid disappointment as this year’s production features notable changes.
Five burglaries reported in Bagley over the weekend with more than $800 in goods stolen. The largest loss occurred at the school, where multiple tape recorders and tapes were taken. Other targets included Peavey Lumber the Drift Inn the Laundromat and the village garage. Officer Neeland said four tape recorders were recovered Monday.
A pickup camper broke through the ice a quarter mile off shore by the ranger station on Red Lake Monday. Three men were in the vehicle and all escaped but one was injured by the ice. The two from Grand Rapids and one from Hibbing were in shock and unconscious upon ambulance arrival. They were taken to the Northorne Clinic and then transferred to a Grand Rapids hospital.
Commissioner of Natural Resources Robert Herbst turned over 33324 to Leech Lake RBC leaders Monday. The check reflects the reservation revenue from a surcharge on hunting and fishing licenses levied as of June 22 on non Indians within the reservation. Additional payment will follow when the year's remaining surcharge income is received by the department.

Gerald Willet announced an agreement between the Department of Natural Resources and Burlington Northern Railroad to lease and eventually buy the abandoned line from Park Rapids to Walker for a recreation trail. Work starts immediately with hopes of winter use for snowmobilers hikers bikers and horseback riders.
