The Associated Press reports a market basket survey showing higher prices in November across 9 of 13 cities with an average 3 percent rise. Eggs rose in 12 of 13 cities while fuel concerns threaten higher prices next year. Cities surveyed include Albuquerque Atlanta Boston Chicago Dallas Detroit Los Angeles Miami New York Philadelphia Providence Salt Lake City Seattle.
Geography professor G Etzel Pearcy of California State University Los Angeles suggests redrawing borders to form 38 states, including Hudson and Dearborn, with Alaska split and Hawaii renamed Kilauea. He argues state costs could drop about 4.6 billion annually though Smithsonian article notes strong resistance to change.
