Political Notes and a Prison Labor Case
Topics Uppermost. Mr. Cottrell has certainly made a clean record and his constituents have reason to feel proud of their Assemblyman. It is evident that there is a desire on the part of Senator Fassett's admirers to return him to the Senate again this fall for fourth term. Dr. Joseph Parker has beautifully said a man's character is his eloquence and the life that brings out in their beautiful relief God's exhortations these are the things that are most logical most poetic most persuasive. It is said that a man sentenced to imprisonment at hard labor at Sing Sing has given notice of a peculiar grievance he suffers. Prison legislation has made it unlawful to employ prison labor, depriving him of part of his sentence. He intends to sue the state when his sentence expires to compel her to show cause why he should suffer this enforced idleness. The case raises interesting queries.
