From Vicksburg Down to Kettle Hill
A dated column contrasts Roosevelt’s nonconsecutive term stance with Grant’s 1880 third term stance. It argues Roosevelt misdefined consecutive terms, cites his 1904 refusals, and recalls Grant’s letter to Conkling about not seeking a third nomination. The piece frames Roosevelt as avoiding clear commitment and notes the editorial source Indianapolis News.
