Lieut Perrill aboard the USS Quiros stayed onshore while family traveled for safety amid cholera fears in Shanghai.
S2 year old farmer Seymour Cobb lives on a 300 acre farm at the pocket near Martin Greene and Lawrence counties. He toils six days a week and stacked wheat for two wagons recently. His 83 year old wife handles the household tasks without help. They were married in 1844 and celebrate 63 years of marriage with two married children. Cobb sold fine cattle to Ambrose Sears yesterday, showing strong trading ability.
William McCormick announced from the News office that he will relocate to San Bernardino California at the start of the year to form a law partnership. He states the move is for his wife’s health and that a disbarment suit has been dismissed.

Allen claims self defense as Sparks, 26, son of Leonard Sparks, was raised near Stanford and was married with one child. Funeral planned for Burch graveyard.

Lawrence A. Wood of Mitchell buys the John T. Stout dairy business and leases land adjoining the Creamery and a 30 acre tract. He plans a dairy farm, ice cream and sherbet production, and a milk wagon delivery service to all town areas. Wood has ten years in dairy work and previously ran Hill Side dairy. He takes charge in about thirty days.
James Annehill, 21, blind since youth, was arrested on a complaint by his mother Ida Greer for striking her with a cane. Mayor Stipp arranged a reconciliation, noting the boy's impaired condition and urging the mother to fulfill her duties. they left the station hand in hand.
The Mitchell Tribune reports Frank Vance of Bedford attempted to block the admission of J.T. Wood to the Lawrence County bar to preside over liquor charge preliminaries. Vance offered five dollars for a Bedford trip, but Brown forced a counter chase and Wood was admitted before Vance could derail the process.
Hand notched by a rusted wire on an arm chair at his home. James O Connell, a well known marble dealer, forced the wire into his flesh and penetrated to the base of the thumb. He dressed the wound with antiseptic at Dr Freeland s office and will be laid up with a bad hand for several days.
Chicago health department reports lemon juice can kill typhoid bacilli in water after three days of tests. One teaspoonful of juice to a half glass of water reportedly makes the water safe to drink by shriveling and killing the bacilli.

Oliver Fiddler of West Thirteenth Street provided a written statement to Officer Lucien Payne via the Mail saying a stillborn infant was buried Thursday night by the father Oscar Fiddler with a permit from Doctors Freeland and Simpson. Charles W Wasserbach, an Albanian ad man who sought an orphan wife, announced plans to wed Miss Elizabeth Roth. After inviting seventy five guests, the ceremony was postponed six months at her request, with Miss Roth deciding now is not the proper time to marry.
Early morning street drama on the West Side followed a dispute at Brown's saloon where Kremer struck Bob Coverdale with a beer bottle. Coverdale, a known saloon figure, required medical care for a severe temple wound and facial gash.
