Dr T L Armstrong longtime United States Inspector at the Union Stockyards in Indianapolis died Thursday and was buried at Greencastle. He was about 65, a Lawrence County native, musician in the Union Army, studied dentistry in Bedford, and moved to Indianapolis. Survived by wife and a daughter from a former marriage Neville Armstrong and relatives Belle Shacklett attended the funeral in Greencastle.
Walter Hahn of Vevay rose from hermit living in a cottage near Mitchell to a zoology student at the University. He studied the blind fish in Donaldson's cave after a stint at the Smithsonian in Washington. This year Will Scott replaces him at Mitchell while Hahn remains at Bloomington.
Surveyors are at work between Spencer and Ellottsville for the Grand Central line and into Bloomington. Chief engineer ill Duncan, of the Grand Central company, was in Spencer and says the Terre Haute to Bloomington segment will be located within weeks. She was betrothed but death intervened before marriage. Survived by one sister Mrs Elijah Embree. Funeral held Sunday at 2 PM from First Christian church Bedford with Rev Melvin Putnam officiating. Interment at Green Hill cemetery.
Jennings a car repairer on the Southern Indiana line at Jasonville was badly hurt Saturday when a cut of cars was shoved onto the switch striking the car he was under. His left leg was crushed and his back wrenched with internal injuries. He was brought to Bedford by train and taken to City Hospital where Dr Freeland treated him.
Joe Hickman, identifying as the girl's father, phones the MAIL to deny her presence at the Dewey house with James Brown two weeks earlier. He says he can prove she was at home and that her police confession and Mayor Stipp’s account are untrue. He adds the girl was frightened and unaware of what she said. The father’s account conflicts with the girl’s police confession.
The funeral for Miss Zora Johnson was held Sunday at the First Christian Church with Elder John Williams in charge. A large crowd attended from the city and country and numerous elaborate floral offerings accompanied the service. The body was interred in Green Hill cemetery.
