John Fitzpatrick testified in the Senate probe explaining the steel strike seeks to free America from the menace of steel trust control. The statement was reported from Washington D C with reference to International News Service.
President Wilson challenged the Senate to make its stance on the treaty unmistakable and said he will judge ratification or rejection. In a Denver auditorium speech he described the hyphen as the knife sticking the treaty.
A devastating blaze at Woods garage near the Marion Club on North Meridian Street destroyed about 100 high priced cars. The damage is pegged at roughly a quarter of a million dollars, with authorities noting the loss occurred this afternoon.
Dora Mayfield aged 42 of Williams died at home Thursday at 5 30 after a lingering tuberculosis illness. He is survived by a widow and one child. Funeral services will be held Friday forenoon at 10 30 from the Williams home.

The year old son of Mr and Mrs Lou Cosner of West 18th street spilled a glass of boiling jelly at home on Wednesday afternoon. The contents burned the hand severely. A local physician treated the injury and the child is doing well this morning.
Lucy A. Hornecker filed for divorce from Millard Hornecker in Lawrence circuit court. The complaint states they married February 25, 1892, separated July 1915, have not lived together since, and that the husband failed to support her.
A Bedford couple, Fultz and Fisgus, united in marriage on Wednesday afternoon in a ceremony attended by family and friends. The couple planned a future together in the Bedford area. The wedding featured traditional vows and a reception following the service.
Miss Thelma Marie Fiscus and Irwin G. Fultz were married in a Wednesday ceremony conducted by Rev. Benjamin Andres at the Presbyterian Manse. The bride, wearing a dark blue suit and feather turban, is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Fiscus. Afterward the couple planned a honeymoon to Louisville, Kentucky, before settling in Indianapolis for work.
Governor James P. Goodrich calls September 29 to October 4 as Jewish Relief Week urging all residents to donate to American Jewish relief efforts aiding six million starving war victims in Europe. He appeals to mayors and citizens to organize drives and support the fund with Hoosier generosity.

Miss Neveda Brazzel celebrated a surprise sixteenth birthday at her home on a Wednesday evening. Guests included Mary Mitchell and Beulah Guthrie among others, with music games and refreshments. She received many presents and well wishes for many more happy birthdays. Mrs. Ralph Allen of Bicknell is visiting.
The trial of Alva Banks, indicted for first degree murder, is set for October 16 though it may not be called until the November term opening November 24. Attorney N. C. Miller retained to defend Banks. Banks remains jailed until trial.
Merrill son of Stanley Wykoff fell at the grandparents home where he lives with Mr and Mrs B S Wykoff and sustained a badly fractured elbow.
Mrs Dale Wykoff hurt when she fell from a car Sunday while en route to visit her mother in Paris Indiana. She tore hip muscles and is slowly improving with treatment.
