About 800 troops from Ft. Benjamin Harrison will reach Bloomington on September 28 for a practice camp at the Dunn lot, stay overnight, and depart after brief sales of provisions. Local merchants are invited to submit bids for bacon bread potatoes onions sugar ice and other rations while hay oats and wood are requested for 2400 pounds 7500 pounds and two cords of wood respectively. The event marks the first large troop march through the city since the Civil War and will be a key attraction during a planned Bloomington carnival.

Wreck Blocks Rail Line Near Bloomfield
A wrecking of nine cars in an extra coal train near Richmond two miles from Bloomfield at 1 pm Wednesday paralyzed traffic on the Bedford and Bloomfield branch of the Slonon. The second car jumped the track and eight more were pulled from the rails. The regular fixed train beyond the wreck could not reach the city Thursday, and a transfer train made up from this city reached the scene to move cars.
