A Peabody Massachusetts school fire caused the deaths of about 55 pupils from ages twelve to twenty, trapping many inside St. John’s Parochial School. Officials and rescuers recovered the victims as the blaze swept through the building.
N J Joyner hosted a Crystal Theatre party Wednesday night for Miss May Brooks ahead of her November wedding to Dr Roland Wynne of Washington DC. Fifteen guests attended with Hallowe en themed decor and treats including tiny witch favors and green brick ice cream. Jenny Furst of Chicago was the only out of town guest.
Miss Harriet McDonald hosted a Tri Kappa luncheon Wednesday afternoon honoring Miss May Brooks. The decorated room featured cosmos in pink and white with a crystal cosmos centerpiece and pink place cards. Menu included fruit cocktail oysters olives creamed peas hot rolls fruit salad wafers pumpkin pies and coffee. A thimble party followed. Mrs. Alice Brown traveled to Indianapolis. Mr and Mrs Frank Jackson were in town on business. A 12 pound son was born Thursday to Mr and Mrs Frank Fish near Buggs Chapel.
Near Gosport early Thursday morning a man named Gray was seriously injured when his automobile overturned on a road. Two other men in the party escaped. Efforts to have Monon Train No. 4 stop at Gosport to transport Gray to a hospital failed due to the heavy grade and the train's heavy load, so hospital plans shifted to Lafayette.
Nancy A. Hays of Frederick Hays sues for divorce in Lawrence circuit court alleging marriage on May 15 1890s and separation on September 20 1915 plus cruel treatment and unfounded adultery accusations. Defendant Frederick Hays convicted September 20 1915 for liquor law violation and serving ninety days. wife seeks custody of their children.
The August 18 1911 will filed in the county clerk's office bequeaths all estate after debts to Lucy A. Maher. The one paragraph document was witnessed by George M. Dodd and James W. Douthitt.
Miss Margaret Woodbridge, a noted Indianapolis singer and Smith College alumna, will arrive Thursday to visit Miss May Brooks. Woodbridge will perform a program of songs at Wynne on November 9th.

The ten year old son of William Kinser of Nob Creek near Bartlettsville died Thursday at 10 a m from membranous croup. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.

Police raided Joe Morro’s establishment Wednesday finding fifty bottles of beer. Morro jailed for lack of bond. trial scheduled Saturday forenoon at nine o’clock.
A birthday anniversary surprise for S E Kidd on Washington Avenue featured masqueraders and revelry. Mrs Roy Harding hosted with Mrs Wild Aly and guests, including Master Frank Bickenhauser as Charlie Chaplin, with dancing, games, and a spread of pumpkin pies, cider and snacks.
